KEEP YOUR MASK ON...!
How many times have you heard this or have told this to a player? If it wasn't for Paintball masks we would not be able to play... face it. The mask protects us from harm. With that being said the mask is quite possibly the most important piece of equipment you own; you'd think you'd use it.
Well there I was at work. Paintball Arkansas the largest range in the state is where I earn my living; I love it here. A group was playing some speedball and all was going well. everyone was having fun until one player who was out did something stupid.
From the dead box on the side of the field he was getting hit. This happens when you are in that particular box, someone is in the snake and you are too dumb to move. This guy was truly DUMB. He, yelled out several times that "I'm out... STOP SHOOTING ME!!!" It kept happening... so what does he do...? He removes his mask and yells at the players.
STUPID
As soon as the bottom edge of his mask raised past his face he got hit in the edge of his eye. Needless to say he was hurt. So we did our first aid thing... and fortunately everything is alright with the player. His eye was swollen shut for several days and his parrents grounded him for breaking the rules.
So it can happen people... all it takes is one second of not thinking and BOOM you lost your eye. So do the right thing... keep your mask on and if you are a reff tell your players the importance of the mask and ride their asses until they do the right thing.
