Tournament Ideas
DATE: 01/15/2007 21:25:06 / MOOD: other

Hello all out there... I need your valued opinions on a tournament I am thinking of throwing in Memphis, TN

I am a scenario player, but I have organized tournaments here in my state of Arkansas.  I had much success with what I have done and I am thinking of expanding out to other states and ranges.

As Tourney Players I want to know what YOU would like to see.  I am planning on a DJ to spin live, a DVD to be filmed with each team interviewed and trophies to be awarded.  What else can yall think of?  What format should I use; NPPL, X-Ball, or what?

At any rate I want know what yall think... what do high speed tourney players like you look for and what would bring you out.  Please let me know.

I thank you for your time and effort.

New Video!!!!!!!!!!
DATE: 12/25/2006 21:24:32 / MOOD: full of life

OK, here is is.

After much waiting ( I appologize, my daughter was born the day after this game went down; I've been busy) here is the New EMP Video.

This one features the Pistol/Stock Class shoot-out held at the "Tombstone" Scenario Game at EZ-Paintball in Lakeland, TN on October 28th, 2006.

All the usual high-speed editing is there and the energetic music found in every EMP video will tickle your ears while the graphics tickle your eyes... it's pretty stimulating.

At anyrate please check it out and tell your friends.  I GREATLY appreciate all the viewers and links to the videos.  It's the people and viewers like you, not the editor, that makes a video a sucess or failure.  I thank you all for your help.

Also check out the new pics of my daughter.

It finally happened...

KEEP YOUR MASK ON...!
How many times have you heard this or have told this to a player? If it wasn't for Paintball masks we would not be able to play... face it. The mask protects us from harm. With that being said the mask is quite possibly the most important piece of equipment you own; you'd think you'd use it.
Well there I was at work. Paintball Arkansas the largest range in the state is where I earn my living; I love it here. A group was playing some speedball and all was going well. everyone was having fun until one player who was out did something stupid.
From the dead box on the side of the field he was getting hit. This happens when you are in that particular box, someone is in the snake and you are too dumb to move. This guy was truly DUMB. He, yelled out several times that "I'm out... STOP SHOOTING ME!!!" It kept happening... so what does he do...? He removes his mask and yells at the players.
STUPID
As soon as the bottom edge of his mask raised past his face he got hit in the edge of his eye. Needless to say he was hurt. So we did our first aid thing... and fortunately everything is alright with the player. His eye was swollen shut for several days and his parrents grounded him for breaking the rules.
So it can happen people... all it takes is one second of not thinking and BOOM you lost your eye. So do the right thing... keep your mask on and if you are a reff tell your players the importance of the mask and ride their asses until they do the right thing.

Well meaning parrents
DATE: 06/28/2006 05:55:10 / MOOD: happy

Paintball has become a wide reaching sport. That is good. Due to the stringent safety measures taken such as masks and chronoraphing we can play with only the illusion of danger knowing that when we are hit we will only get a bruise that will most likelly get shown off to our friends later. No harm done.

Every now and then us men catch a shot to an area that we hold near and dear to ourselves. The crotch. Catching a small paintball traveling at 280 fps to any part of the body stings, but getting hit square in the gonads down right hurts. Well, over the weekend I saw it happen.

It was an ordinary game of speedball with a birthday group. Everyone was having fun, laughing and joking, enjoying cake and the like. All the assembled parrents were watching their children play on our arena field when all of the sudden one child got double tapped in the groin.

Naturally he curled up in a ball on the ground writhing in pain. The group's reff, Chase immediatly did the right thing. He stopped the game, told everyone to plug their barrels, keep their masks on and step off the field while he tended to the shot player. Chase is good at what he does, that is why we keep him on staff at Paintball Arkansas. He went out of his way using quick thinking to solve the problem. I could not have asked him to act more professionally than he did. The parrents of the player that was shot are a completely different story.

I was not there for this part, but from what I was told by several witnesses, the mother of the child ran onto the field, before the game was stopped, yelled at Chase and acted like her son was bleeding to death in her arms. Chase tried to calm her, but she responded by cussing at him and making threatening actions.

I was inside the pro-shop whent his happened, but the mother came inside and asked for a pamphlet. I gave her one and also gave her the name of the field's owner when she asked. I offered her my help but she snapped at me with, "I'm leaving with an injured child; no you can't help me.", and stormed out the door. She was in her car and tearing through the parking lot before I could stop her.

I asked Chase what happened and he allong with the other parrents there filled me in. I made sure that everyone else was OK. Thank goodness they were; infact they were embarassed by the actions they had to watch. So I pulled aside the player's waiver and set it aside. I heard nothing for the rest of the day and found out the next day that she took her son to the local ER and had him treated for trauma.

He was treated and released with no need for a prescription, no need for further treatment, no need for a follow up, nothing except bedrest if he needs it.

So a kid was shot in the groin, that hurts. I know; I have been shot there myself. But does that justfy an unmasked person running onto the field and trying to take control from the reff. NO IT DOES NOT!

I respect the conserns of the parrent in this situation, but I also respond to her with a reminder that SHE signed a waiver after reading it and understanding that certain risks are accepted when playing. If she is that afraid of this very safe sport then she either needs to stay at home wahile her son enjoys the game or introduce him to Laser-Tag. Either way she made for an unsafe and stressful enviroment that placed my reff in a situation that he does not need to be in.

*For all the parrents reading this. Paintball is a very safe sport, great measures are taken by your local insured field to make sure that no one gets hurts when following the rules that are in place. I do not condem the actions of this mother as "stupid", she was mearly reacting to a situation that caused her to fear the safety of her child. However as a future refference for all the parrents who let ther children play paintball; let the reff do his job. If you have any complaints take them to the field manager or owner.

Ions...
DATE: 06/24/2006 18:19:29 / MOOD: happy

Smart Parts Ion... a good marker for the money. A marker that is SO popular that they were on back order from the factory. A professional / upgradable marker at a good price. Let me tell you the BIG SECRET about Ions.

DON'T TAKE THEM APART!!! I work at the largest paintball range in my state and we get on average two Ions a week in to be fixed and it's always the same problem. The QEV (Quick Exhaust Valve) breaks and causes the gun to not work. It breaks because people take it apart thinking that they can toss it back together and all will be fine. Well no.

Please... buy your marker from your local paintball range or store. The probably offer a warrantee on the equipment they sale and if they don't they are better equiped to deal with the factory that you are. Also if your marker fails in any way take it into to have them fix it. This is a good idea for several reasons... A: They have the equipment and parts to fix the problem and B: that is what they do; paying them for work helps keep them in business.

So in short... Ions are good markers, just let your local shop fix them instead of doing it yourself. Do this with any paintball marker that you own.
